About this site.

helpmedecide.org is a small set of decision-making calculators, built because the decisions that most benefit from a bit of structured thinking are exactly the ones where people reach for a pencil and end up with nothing.

There are three calculators today — Expected Value for risky choices, Pros & Cons for weighing reasons, and Cost–Benefit Analysis for decisions that play out over years. More will arrive as good reasons to build them appear. No calendar, no roadmap, no hurry.

What it is

A place to slow down enough to write your assumptions down honestly. The calculators don't know anything you don't — they just make the arithmetic visible so you can argue with it. Most of the value is in the argument, not the answer.

What it isn't

It isn't an oracle, and it isn't a substitute for professional advice. The calculators do straightforward math on the numbers you enter. Garbage in, garbage out. If a decision involves someone's health, your finances in any serious way, or a legal question, please talk to a real professional. The calculators can help you structure the question you want to bring them.

Privacy

Nothing you enter leaves your browser. Your work is saved in local storage so you can close the tab and come back; no account, no tracking of decisions against you, no server log of what you're considering. The one exception is the optional "Map It Out" button on the Expected Value calculator, which sends only your decision text to our server to get AI-suggested starter outcomes — skip it and the rest of the site works identically.

What's next?

Try one of the calculators. The quick recommender on the home page can point you at the right one if you're not sure where to start.
